Risk analysis of nuclear plants and radioactive waste disposal facilities (HAZOP, PSA, etc.)

One of the most technologically advanced system is certainly nuclear technology, applied for the production of nuclear energy. Regulations for the establishment and operation of nuclear plants and radioactive waste disposal facilities are perhaps the most complicated and divergent ones, thus, a rigorous and complex safety analysis required to permit both the establishment and the operation. Depending on the purpose of the safety analysis, qualitative, semi-quantitative or quantitative methods should be used. Nowadays these methods are widely used in the professional practice. HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) analysis is one of the most common qualitative techniques. PSA (Probabilistic Safety Analysis) has been introduced in 1975 and become the essential quantitative analytical method in the field of nuclear safety. Our colleagues gained many years of analytical experience in both areas. Our knowledge regarding the employed software tools is maintained by professional trainings of the software manufacturers.
